Marcus Uzilevsky was born in New York City in 1937. During the 1960’s he discovered a talent for music and played guitar with the folk music group, “The New Christy Minstrels.” In the early 1970’s his painting career developed, and he achieved national recognition with his linear landscapes. In 1981 he created his musical series. “Since I have invested as much of my life energy into music as I have into art, I came to a place where I desired to merge the two forms. I produced a system of symbols, a musical language of calligraphic nomenclature that expresses my emotional response to the music I listen to while creating these graphics. I wanted to create a visual art that can touch the same emotional and spiritual cord within my being as does a beautiful piece of music.”
The Wine
The 1983 Artist Series is composed of three different varieties of grapes from four separate hillside vineyards in the Sonoma Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc were all aged in Limousin and Nevers oak for periods of up to 15 months.
The finished wine exhibits a rich nose and flavor that are a direct result of the three varieties used in the blend. Both Merlot and Cabernet Franc add a softness to the wine and an added degree of complexity to its flavors. This wine will age nicely.
Composition: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Aging: up to 15 months in Limousin and Nevers oak
Alcohol: 13.0%
