1988 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon

The Art
Kenwood Vineyards’ fourteenth Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon release features "Pink Floating Leaves on Deer Pond," a photograph by Christopher Burkett of Oregon.
For the first time Kenwood has selected a photograph to grace the Artist Series label. Through his striking and detailed photographic images, Christopher beckons the viewer to feel the light and power inherent in the tapestry of nature. His photography rapidly has reached an international audience, and his work is featured in many public and private fine art collections.

The Wine
The grapes selected for the 1988 Artist Series are a blend of the finest small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. After harvest at optimum ripeness, vineyard lots were kept separate during fermentation in stainless steel and aging for two years in Nevers Oak barrels.
The finished wine exhibits deep, rich color, classic berry fruit flavors and a minty character. Tannins are moderate. Small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot add to the softness and complexity of this wine. This Cabernet will age beautifully, well beyond the year 2000.

Composition: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc
