The Art
Robin F. Williams was born in 1984 in Columbus, OH. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design and earned a BFA in 2006 before moving to New York City to pursue a career as a fine artist. Her visceral, large-scale representations of otherworldly figures conjure the inner lives of imagined, yet corporeal subjects through fauvist-hues, painterly texture, and delicate brushstrokes. She has had solo exhibitions at Jack the Pelican Presents, Brooklyn, NY, and P•P•O•W Gallery, New York, NY, as well as group exhibitions with Claire Oliver Gallery, New York, NY, and Grand Central Art Center, Santa Ana, CA. In 2010, she was selected as the Spring Playbill Artist for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and in 2011 she was awarded a fellowship at the MacDowell Colony. Williams’ inspiration behind “Smile” was to create an impactful piece of art in which the subject’s expression seemed satisfied and electric at the same time.
The Wine
Fruit aromas of raspberry and plum are joined by aromatic notes of vanilla, nutmeg, and cedar cigar box. The mouth feel is full bodied with rich tannins and flavors of tart Morello Cherries finished with a hint of mint. Although this elegant and complex wine is delicious now, it can be aged for at least a decade.
