Knights Valley

Knights Valley

The Knights Valley is positioned between Alexander Valley to the west and the upper Napa Valley to the east. Protected from direct Pacific influence, Knights Valley is the warmest of the county’s Viticultural Areas. It derives its heat from its lofty position high upon the hills and beyond the reach of the cooling ocean breeze. Warm afternoons and cool evenings provide the ideal environment for growing Bordeaux grape varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petite Verdot. The volcanic soils, which are warm and fertile, offer these varietals characteristics of cassis and tobacco, with hints of cedar, and rich chocolate notes of perfectly ripe, warm-climate grapes. Sauvignon Blanc also thrives in this valley and claims a rich, fruity style.
