Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast, the westernmost part of Sonoma County, is one of the coolest vineyard regions in California. With close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, this region receives twice the annual rainfall of its inland neighbors.  These cool climate conditions contribute to slow grape maturation, which allows for optimal ripeness – ideal conditions for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Though Sonoma Coast is the county’s largest Viticultural Area, it is at present the least planted. However, that is changing as consumers discover the complex flavors that can be produced from this cool climate region.  Toasted hazelnut and creamy texture define Sonoma Coast Chardonnays while Pinot Noirs from this region depict nothing but a silky mouthfeel with aromas of black cherry fruit and sandalwood spice.
