Kenwood’s 2013 Russian River Valley Reserve Pinot Noir is sourced from our Estate Vineyards located in the heart of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. This cool region is best known for growing delicate and flavorful Pinot Noir. Delightful aromas of nutmeg, vanilla, and black tea join with ripe fruit flavors of cherry and pomegranate. A rich velvety mouthfeel and elegant tannins lead to a lingering finish.
The cool terroir combined with ideal soil make for exceptional Pinot Noir grapes with distinctive cherry and spice flavors. The growing season of 2013 had dry and mild weather and produced fruit with an excellent natural balance of acid and sugar. The delicate Pinot Noir grapes were harvested and crushed with great care, with ten percent of the grapes undergoing whole cluster carbonic maceration in the fermentation tanks. This old-world technique enhances the fruitiness of the wine. Eleven months of aging in new French oak barrels intensifies the wines depth and complexity.
This wine is exceptional when paired with pork and lamb dishes. Salmon, roast duck and light pastas are complemented by the ripe berry qualities of this delicious Pinot Noir.
