Selected one barrel at a time, the 2012 Kenwood Reserve Zinfandel is the ultimate expression of wine from our favorite lots of the vintage. The fruit is sourced primarily from the renowned Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys with a small amount of the fruit coming from Knights Valley. Before bottling, Syrah from the Sonoma Valley was added to the blend to give the resulting wine more character and backbone.
The 2012 growing season had nearly perfect growing conditions and the fruit from the vintage had particularly intense flavor. Throughout October as they reached their peak of ripeness the individual vineyards were harvested and brought to the winery. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was aged in 62% French and 38% American oak for 20 months.
The wine’s delicious, supple flavors complement pasta, veal, lamb and roast beef.
