Winemaking Operations Manager
Katie studied Environmental Science at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand and quickly realized she wanted to apply these principles to an industry. This led to a transfer to Lincoln University in Canterbury where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Viticulture and Oenology. While studying, Katie started her wine career with a summer internship at Babich Wines in Auckland.
"I am excited about our new ranges that continue to express the rich and diverse terroir of Sonoma."
After graduating in 2006, Katie moved to Marlborough, New Zealand’s largest wine region (though very small by California standards) where she spent 9 years, periodically leaving to work harvests in France (Alsace 2007 and Gers near Bordeaux 2009), and the USA (Oregon 2010 and California 2012).
Driven by her passion for the outdoors, Katie spent the early part of her career working as an outdoor education instructor, teaching sailing, kayaking and rock climbing.
Katie Hoggins worked the 2014 harvest in Marlborough, New Zealand making red wines until moving to California in 2015 to join Kenwood.
