Pat Henderson

As a veteran of more than 30 vintages, few people know more about Sonoma winemaking than our Chief Winemaker, Pat Henderson. While completing his degree in the Viticulture and Enology program Pat worked at five wineries including a summer with Kenwood Vineyards as enologist in 1983. After graduation he worked in both the Napa and Sonoma valleys before taking his first position as head winemaker in Washington State.

"Sonoma doesn’t just mean great wine, it also embodies our way of life; hardworking but willing to take the time to relax and enjoy the best things in life"

Pat always knew he wanted to come home to Sonoma and rejoined the Kenwood team in 2003 as winemaker. Under the mentorship of Mike Lee, the original Kenwood winemaker, Pat learned the art of small-lot winemaking.

In 2015 Pat became chief winemaker of Kenwood Vineyards where he crafts wines with unique varietal character driven from Sonoma’s diverse terroir. His approach to winemaking embodies Kenwood Vineyards’ small-lot winemaking philosophy and a dedication to detail to ensure his wines capture the very best Sonoma has to offer.

Pat lives with his wife on the same mountain Jack London called home. His downtime is spent hiking these mountain trails with his dogs and car racing with industry colleagues. Pat is a member of The American Society for Enology and Viticulture as well as the Society of Wine Educators and has been a judge at numerous professional wine competitions.
