Alluvial soil and drainage for superb Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Carriger Estate Vineyard is located on the gentle slopes on the southeastern edge of Sonoma Mountain. Here, the alluvial soil rises above the valley floor providing the vineyard with good drainage and protection from early spring frosts.
Kenwood Vineyards has owned the Carriger Vineyard for more than three decades, and very early on we recognized its potential to produce superb Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are pruned to ensure low yield and receive limited irrigation during the growing season to intensify the character of their fruit.
