The Lone Pine Vineyard is an Estate ranch that we have been growing Cabernet Sauvignon on since 1995. It is located in the southern Sonoma Valley at the southeastern base of Sonoma Mountain. Its distinctive sandy-loam soil produces excellent big-bodied Cabernet Sauvignons with wonderful intensity of fruit. It is named for the large pine tree that grows in the middle of the vineyard; a remnant of the original 1912 farmhouse that was located there.
Harvested on October 2nd, the fruit was picked by hand and brought to the winery for crushing and destemming before fermenting on the skins for two and a half weeks. The young wine was then pressed into stainless steel tanks for two months of settling before being placed in small French oak barrels. After 26 months of aging, the best-tasting barrels were separated from the lot and assembled to be bottled as our Single Vineyard Lone Pine Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
