Lone Pine Vineyard Malbec 2015
The 2015 vintage had alight crop and warm dry growing season which led to ripe berry and jam flavors for our Malbec. Handpicked on September 25th, the fruit was crushed into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. After 3 weeks, the young wine was then pressed off the skins and settled before being placed in small French oak barrels. After 22 months of aging the best-tasting barrels were separated from the lot and assembled to be bottled as our limited release Lone Pine Estate Vineyard designate.
The Lone Pine Vineyard is an Estate ranch located in the southern Sonoma Valley at the southeastern base of Sonoma Mountain. Its distinctive sandy-loam soil produces excellent big-bodied varietals with wonderful intensity of fruit. It is named for the large pine tree that grows in the middle of the vineyard; a remnant of the original 1912 farmhouse that was located there.
