Six Ridges Pinot Noir 2016

The Russian River carves a gap in the rugged coastal mountains of Sonoma County, building a route for cooling afternoon breezes and morning fog that creates the unique terroir of the Russian River Valley. The mild growing conditions are ideal for producing rich and full-flavored Pinot Noir.

Winemakers Notes

2016 marked the 5th year of the California drought with average rainfalls and a mild spring, leading to a balanced crop. A pleasant summer was tracking for a low-key harvest until a heat spike in early September led to a flurry of picking. We harvested our Six Ridges Russian River Pinot Noir grapes between September 6th and 13th. Each vineyard lot was fermented separately on the skins for 12 to 22 days, then settled and racked twice before the wine was aged for 14 months in small oak barrels. On the nose, ripe red fruit aromas are beautifully accented with touches of cinnamon and dark chocolate. The palate has a lush mouthfeel with elegant flavors of black cherry and toasted almond, an elegant tannins structure and a lingering spicy finish.
